Very surprised that Newark ATC hadn't been told 11 or 175 had been hijacked or might have been possibly hijacked. I would have thought all nearby airports and ATCs would have been notified.

I saw the second tower hit on live tv. I had ran up to a sandwich shop that had a TV with a coworker - Internet was out, and the boss sent us up there to see what had happened. We were looking at the hole in the first building, some of the other people there trying to believe it was a smaller plane, and then the second plane hit. People cried out, cursed, cried, I looked at my coworker and said, “We’re at war, that’s not an accident.” We went back to the office, told everyone what we’d seen, and they just sent everyone home. I went to our church, went in and just sat there. About 10 other people were there, and more drifted in. We had a service for the dead, and prayed for us all, seems like it was a million years ago.

It's chilling to think that if that 30 minute delayment at Newark airport hadn't happened; this could have been the outcome. Those passengers on Flight 93 that fought back were heroes.

My friend and i did a Flight Simulator days before to see what would happen if we hit the twin towers. We knew something major could happen and we wanted to see how to prevent it. I said lets do a scenario of a mentally challenged individual taking over the cockpit. So we took off JFK like normal and i played the part of the mentally challenged individual. Surprisingly it was easy to take over. Then i came up with a solution why not have a panic button the pilot could press and ground control could land the plane remotely even someone at Microsoft if need be to make it look like the terrorist or mentally challenged individual was flying but in reality it was remotely being landed safely by the FAA or other entity like OnStar. Once the button is pressed ir cannot be reset unless you have a password and each flight the captain's vouce is recorded talking to ATC so voice recognition is part of it. The button could be located in a hidden footwell that you kick. Or if they hear an unapproved voice they can turn it on to remote mode. At the same time the cockpit door locks and only approved staff can get in. So if both crew were incapacitated or suicide attempt it can be returned safely or even durung a mechanical failure
